Are you always busy, yet not achieving much?

Time management is such an important issue to me that in the early days of this blog, there was a huge focus on the subject. Plus, one of my very first posts, 10 Easy Steps to Improve Time Management and Reduce Stress, was featured on Freshly Pressed, which drove tons of traffic to this blog. It was obvious to me that time management was a huge issue for people, and for the first time in my life I was excelling in that area.

I periodically updated this blog with tips on time management, as I tried out new systems and shared what worked best for me. And then there was a dry spell as I focused on other things, until I came around the other day and wrote another post on time management. There were two great comments on the post, which inspired me to expand a little on one of my replies there. How to Fall Asleep Fast: One Easy Solution

These are exciting times for me with my business Tribal Publishing. I’ve been running an online course that comes to a close this month on social media marketing for small businesses and authors. Now I’m preparing some free materials that will be available for download, as well as a home study course. I’m also working on some new ideas for Ready to Bloom. My head is full of ideas!

Which means that sleep often doesn’t come easily. My hypnotherapist gave me some tips and exercises on how to fall asleep quickly, but I just couldn’t concentrate on them. My business planning was just too exciting!

Then I found some guided visualizations by Wild Bliss.

I’ve been listening to two of them at night before I sleep: Cultivating Bliss […]

Happy, happy 2013!

Happy 2013!! I know I’m a week late on this, but I’ve been delaying any posts here because Ready to Bloom is in the middle of a total website redesign! I’m SO very excited about this. While I mentioned this last week on Facebook, I wanted to be sure I mentioned it here.

There are so many posts in my head that I want to write, but they’ve got to stay there for now, as we’re in the process of moving the site.

Please stay in touch on Facebook in the meantime, and I promise to be back soon with a gorgeous new site!

In the meantime, I’d like to wish you a healthy, happy, and abundant 2013! What have you done so far to make 2013 your […]

Best of 2012

It’s the last day of 2012, and Ready to Bloom is finishing its second year. I’d like to thank you all for reading, commenting, and retweeting my posts! And thank you for your messages. I love getting feedback on the posts here, and I also enjoy receiving requests for post ideas.

I’d also like to recap the top five posts of the year. The top post is of no surprise to me, as it’s the post that was chosen for Freshly Pressed back in January of 2011. The #2 post was also last year’s second most popular post. The next three posts are all new to this year’s Top 5 list.

Create Your Incredible Year 2013

It’s that time of year when people start looking to the future and thinking about their New Years Resolutions, of which 88% typically end in failure. Why? Because people don’t usually plan their resolutions as goals. They don’t break their resolutions down into bite-sized chunks and set deadlines for achieving them.

Instead of resolutions, they need a plan.

I’m a huge fan of Leonie Dawson, and for the first time this year I purchased her Create Your Incredible Year planners. I absolutely loved them! They take you step by step through the process of taking stock of 2012 and looking at what you’ve achieved. Next, you move onto planning what you want to get out of 2013. There is a workbook and a calendar for both editions: […]

The Top 50 Personal Development Blogs of 2012

Thanks to everyone who either nominated Ready to Bloom or voted  for this blog for The Top 50 Personal Development Blogs of 2012. Ready to Bloom made it as Number 33! Thanks for your support.

And do check out the full list (link above) to see 49 other great personal development blogs. I was already familiar with some of the ones that made the list, and others are completely new to me.

Thanks again for your help with spreading the word on Ready to Bloom!

I was also reminded of the importance of consistent branding across my online platform, something I’m constantly reminding people about. I use the same bio photo on all sites EXCEPT LinkedIn…and of course that was where he went for my bio photo […]

Where am I going? Way forward

You’ve set your SMART goals. Are you ready to plan your path to achieving them? It’s easy once you break each goal down into smaller chunks, or small steps that you can take. There are many different paths to a single goal, so remember that you have a number of options available to you.

I found this goal-setting process to be very useful when I first started training in coaching. Goal setting and planning how to achieve our goals are two of the most important ways to ensure that we’re happy with our lives, yet they’re something we never learn in school. Such a foundation skill, however so many people never learn how to do it. And then they wonder why they’re so unhappy in life.

Keep your mind open for this activity. I know that I often remind you of this, but this is especially important for this exercise. Don’t filter your ideas from the beginning: simply write down everything that comes to mind as you answer each question. If something seems challenging or scary, write it down anyway. Remember that sometimes the scary things are simply those that take us outside our comfort zone…which is a very good thing!

If you feel you get stuck on any one goal, you may find it useful to move onto another one to get the process flowing. Once you get used to the process, you’ll find it easier. Ready? Let’s get started: […]

Where am I going? Setting goals

I know you’ve had a lot to look at every day: vision board, affirmations, and your list of how you would live your life differently. What changes have you noticed in your life in the past few days or weeks? Be sure to make note of everything that has changed, as becoming aware of differences can help us pave the road for more changes.

Now it’s time to plan concrete actions to help you achieve the life of your dreams. Sound like a daunting task? It’s easy, when you break it down into steps. This is what we’ve spent weeks and months on: answering the Three Happiness Questions so that we can get clear on who we are, where we are in life, and start planning where we want to be headed for the future.

Ready? I’m seriously excited as I write this. I hope you are, too. […]

Where am I going? Thinking differently

I trust that you’ve been looking at both your vision board and your affirmations several times a day. What have you learned? How do you feel about your board? How do you feel when reading your affirmations? Has anything changed for you?

Today we’re going to look at how you might live your life differently if you were already all of the things you’ve been repeating as your affirmations. If you already were confident, if you already were flexible, if you already had what you needed to make your vision board come true…how would you live your life differently?

This is all about changing our ways of thinking and imagining a new way of living, using the vision board and the affirmations as a springboard for making our dreams become reality.

Get ready to start thinking differently so you can create the life of your dreams: […]

Where am I going? Affirmations

So you’ve been living with your vision board for a week now. Perhaps more or less, if you’re not completing these exercises exactly as they’ve been posted here.

Take a few minutes to reflect on your vision board and your relationship with it. What have you learned about your board since then? Does it feel familiar to you? Do you feel comfortable looking at it? Does it make more sense now than it did when you created it?

Today we’re going to work on creating affirmations based on our board. We’re going to look at the things that we would need to believe in order to be, do, or have the things represented on our vision board.

Let’s get started: […]
